Over mij

My name is Carmen and I'm from Belgium. I work as a personal assistant for people with a disability. Besides my job, I'm also studying to become primary school teacher and western riding instructor. My goal in life is being a primary school teacher for children with special needs and in my spare time learn children and anyone who's interested, how to take care of horses and how to ride them.

I've been riding horses for over 20 years and have loved it from day 1. I started out as a dressage rider, but switched to western riding a couple of years ago. Recently I've been very interested in the reining discipline. I've been very lucky to have found a reining breeding farm in Canada where I'll be helping out. Hopefully I'll learn here a lot, so when I come back to Belgium I can find myself a nice reining horse.

Travelling is one of the other things I really love. I've been to quite a few places in the UK, I've been to North-Cyprus in the summer of 2013 and when I was a child, I've been to the USA once. I've always dreamed about going someplace far away for a longer period of time. The original plan was to go to Australia or New Zealand first, Canada hadn't really come to mind yet. But I'm so glad to be going here first! My trip to Canada is my first big trip outside Europe alone. Hopefully it'll be the first of many :)

Over mijn reis

On the 24th of June 2014 I'll be travelling to Canada as part of the International Experience Canada. I'm flying from Brussels (Belgium) to Reykjavik (Iceland) to Vancouver (Canada). I'll be staying at the Same Sun Backpackers hostel for 4 nights. On the 28th of June I'll be travelling to the reining breeding farm. I'm VERY much looking forward to my trip!
